Student Internship Highlights
Here is what several of the thirty plus students we have engaged in internships this summer have to say about their experiences in a variety of professional settings!
“I took this out-of-state internship solely for it to change me as a person, and that’s exactly what it’s done. I’ve learned that there is a lot of opportunity in this industry; you just have to be willing to grab it. Mostly though, being older and starting later, I’ve felt that I’m behind most people in terms of knowledge of the industry. Working here, up to this point, has taught me that I know more than I thought I did and that feels great.” Graham Harrison (Environmental Horticulture ’18), pictured to the right, is enjoying an internship at the University of Portland in Oregon.
“The internship this summer is going outstanding, from learning new things to be able to work in an environment and profession that I have an extreme passion for is one of the best life experiences I have had.” Jonathan Worscheck (Environmental Horticulture ’21) is getting the most out of his internship experience at The Broadmoor in Colorado Spring, Colorado.
“I am enjoying the experiences my internship is bringing to me! It is both very motivating and challenging, but I feel like I am learning a lot about hands-on work. I believe being motivated springs from the challenges I face, and without that balance, it’s hard to stay focused at times. I also feel that all of this work and experience will help me during my future.” Will Leonard (Horticulture ’20) is interning with Hartshorn Farm in Waitsfield, Vermont.
“Working at Northern Water this summer has been very satisfying due to the fact that I got to be outside all summer and learn and work with irrigation equipment. It was also very eye-opening to see what kind of people I potentially would work with once I complete my degree and move on to a fulltime job in this particular field.” Sarah Betsinger (Environmental Horticulture ’19) is spending her summer at Northern Water in Berthoud, Colorado.
